Copper pipe outdoors

I'm running 1" copper through my basement wall to the outdoors for a sprinkler system. The pipe will be about 24" above the ground then attached to a backflow preventer then run back down to the outdoor sprinkler valves underground. I'm assuming I can use type L copper which will be exposed outdoors - correct?

Correct

Your correct, just be sure to leave yourself some way to drain this system before winter sets in.
