Urinal problems

I was sent to check on a urinal that stops up about once a m onth and was told a plumber is called to unstop it. He runs a hand auger and unstops it. Now the store wants it fixed. I pulled the urinal off the wall to see how the piping is run. The drain runs inside the wall about 8 inches and makes a 90 degree turn to the left then straight down about 1 1/2 feet into the drain line. This line is also used as the vent stack. There is also another urinal next to the urinal I looked at. This urinal flushes with no problem and seems to not have any effect on the urinal that stops up. Could this be a vent problem or possibly a knock out plug that fell into the line upon attempted removal.

You have no idea how much I hate urinal drains.

Many times it's just a buildup of uric acid that just needs to be cleared out. Just the first couple of inches of drain line has a build up. You'll find that the urinal is not flushed as often as it should be.

Try talking the store into automatic flush valve by Sloan or such.
