Question winterizing water softener

I have a water softener in the garage of my lakefront cottage. Will it freeze in the winter with all the salt in it? If so,Can rv antifreeze be run thru it? I plan to blow out the water lines and put in antifreeze .

I dont think I would go that route. You would be better off disconnecting the softener, draining it, then storing it in a heated place. Then reinstall next spring.

I'm not sure about Antifreeze and a softener. There could be gaskets that antifreeze would eat thru. I'd call the manufactores of the softener and ask them. The salt only keeps water from freezing down to around 0 to 15 degrees F.
