Unhappy B&B Homeowners

HELP--Need expert advice !! For the last 2 years, we have had the smell of sewage throughout the main floor of a two story home. The house is 15 years old. We are on a well and septic system. The septic system was checked and cleaned--no problems there. The smell appears to come from the laundry room, but then we smell it in other places on the main floor. There appears to be no visible plumbing backups. We think it is a vent problem. When we have a good rain or do a great deal of laundry the smell will go away, but usually within a week or two it will return. I know someone has the answer to this--please respond ASAP, before we die of asphyxiation !!

Possibly your laundry (washer) discharge piping is missing a trap. That's what it sounds like to me....

Agree. I thought in reading the first part of your post, Aha! washer hasn't been used and the water dried up in the trap, but since you have been using the washer, it tells me the stand pipe is missing a trap at the bottom.
