Accepted "covering" for LPG pipe fittings?

Would like to know what are "accepted" coverings for buried LPG pipe fittings. The code only alludes to "approved", but doesn't specify.

In times past, it used to be four layers of 10-mil wrap.

I am wondering if there are liquid coverings, such as alphalt emulsion which can be applied before burying the pipe.

All suggestions cheerfully considered.

As far as I know, that's still the standard for iron pipe. Another alternative is cathodic protection.

I, personally, don't like to bury iron at all. Depending on the pressure, use, etc, I prefer to use coated copper tubing or polyethylene pipe.
