Unhappy Stuck floor drain cover

I want to snake out the floor drain in my basement. It's been slowly filling with water. I can't figure out how to get the dang cover off.

It's a cast iron, ASCO 10 1/2", with vent holes. There are two holes on the sides, but they are empty (no screws or anything in them). Does it just pry up, or is it threaded in? Anyone got any ideas?

Don't want to bust it.... I did already put some penetrating oil around the perimeter...

Smack it with a rubber mallet or try to pry it off with a screwdriver. If it has holes for screws, it *should* pop off.

been there, broke that

I did smack it several times with my rubber mallet, and the tip of my craftsman screwdriver is now broken off ... guess I'll just try to smack it harder, try more penetrating oil... ay yiyi..it always seems like the hardest part of most jobs is getting AT them.
