Gun Barrel to Copper connection

Hi,

I am about to undertake a bathroom upgrade. This will involve shifting a radiator to another wall. Unfortunately the pipes are old cast iron pipes and are under the floor.

Can I extend to the new location using copper?
How can I link the old with the new?

Any advise would be appreciated.

You can do it with copper. Solder brass threaded male ends to the copper and screw them into the black iron. It's best to put brass fittings in between the coppen and iron.

But why not do it is black pipe? Get the pipes and fittings you need. Get some pink tank and plumbers dope and do it properly...

Copper expands more than black iron and emits more heat from bare pipe.

I'd only resort to copper if you absolutely needed to.

If you have to put a union it anywhere, put it where it won't be hidden behind a wall. It's the mostly likely thing to leak and easy to fix, but only if you have access.

Do you have any pix of what you plan to do?
