remodel bathroom

i am remodeling my bathroom but im moving my toilet and shower my question is about venting. can i use the same vent for both, they are only about three feet apart from center of shower to center of toilet.
also do i vent the vertical drop from toilet or the horizontal line after toilet.

Yes, you can use the same vent pipe for both. To do it right, you need to pay attention to the size of the vent pipe and how many 'fixture units' the vent pipe can handle. This is explained in Taunton's 'Codecheck Plumbing' available at Amazon or some of the box stores. The toilet vent generally comes off the horizontal run, above the centerline of the pipe for obvious reason.
