Ball valve flow direction

So, I bought a quarter turn, half " by half ", lever handle ball valve to use as a shut off right before the fuel filter in my fuel oil line. There are no markings on the thing as to direction of flow. Does it matter? Is it designed to work just as well in both directions? It is a brass full port ball valve with the lever handle. One end can be opened up to change the innards and the other end is part of the casting. Is one end the inlet and one the outlet? Or doesnt it matter? This is the valve in question.

Either way is OK. Personally, I install ball valves so that the end of the handle when in the 'on' position is pointing in the direction of fluid flow, just helps me remember things later on.
