Relocate Natural Gas Pipe through Metal Stud?

Hi. I'm currently in the middle refinishing my basement and need to relocate a black iron natural gas pipe. It would be convenient to move this behind a wall through the metal studs...is this a safe and acceptable location? There are no shut-off valves on the span that I need to relocate.

Thanks for your help!

Gas line

On the face of it, it should not be a prob. it may be a local code issue. Most codes that I work with will not allow unions or compression fittings behind the wall.

If you decide to go with the installation make sure that you do a test on the new run, it has to be 100% leak free before you seal anything up!

If you can, add a valve to the run. Lots of luck.
