outside water spigot (sp?) wall wet

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what is wrong and how to fix it when an outside spigot leaves the wall wet all the time? Its not coming out of the spigot itself, just behind it I guess and it leaves the wall wet all the time. Thanks, Jill

You have a leak of some sort. Does it leak on the inside of the house or outside? Does it always leak or just when you use it? You will probably have to open the wall to see the connections and see whats leaking.

Adam/spigot leak

Thanks Adam, I guess I wasnt too clear about the situation. The wall is outside, its a brick house and the brick around the spigot is wet all the time in varying dampness. Its wet no matter if we use it or not. The spigot is loose if that matters, you can move it from side to side. Is that enough info to give you a clue?? Thanks, Jill

Do you know if its a winter faucet or is it a small drain?

Winterfaucet(sillcock):

Small drain(yours might look different, but as long as its small and you can see the threads):

Can you get to the back of the faucet where its in the wall? Or is it between a layer of brick?

Wink

For sure turn the water off to it till you can get into it to fix it. water in the brick wall can sure cause trouble for you later on.
