Dishwasher Venting
I recently demolished my kitchen and remodeled. I am using the same dishwasher as it is fairly new. The old sink had a vent for the dishwasher drain, positioned next to the faucet on top of the sink. I am replacing the old garbage disposal with a new one, and plan to run the dishwasher drain through that. My question is do I still need to place a drain vent on top of the sink? Also, can someone explain to me the need for this vent.
Thank you.
Thank you.

A vent for a dishwasher is code in some areas and not code in others... Regardless - you can run a vent in the dishwasher discharge line that does not go through the sink - if you do, check with your local plumbing supply store/big box store for a proper undercounter vent unit. If you do not use a vent, make sure a portion of your dishwasher discharge line is higher than the disposal - which serves the same function, though maybe not quite as effectively.
