Washing Machine hose gaskets

I was once told washing machine hose gaskets need to be made of special material ie:high temperature. One can't just use replacement gaskets like outdoor hose gaskets.
Does anyone know if this is true?

Welcome to the forums. They do handle hotter water, and you should probably use washers designed for those hoses. However, alot of the newer garden hoses are made of neoprene, and they can handle the heat. If your gaskets are in need of replacement, then so are the hoses. They don't last forever, and you don't want them to burst.

I do have some that appear to be made of plastic.....I'll give it a shot.
The hoses are not that old, I just can't seem to get the fittings tight enough.
Thanks very much.
