ABS advantages?

I'm remodeling a vintage travel trailer, but having a hard time finding ABS piping, thus my question, is there any obvious reason that one shouldn't use PVC pipe for this application? I'm tearing out the entire system, and I'm finding that even most recreational travel repair services only carry PVC as well? ? Just want to know if there is any specific reason that most travel trailers come with ABS rather than PVC.

Thanks in advance! Eric

Eric - I own a vacation house that has ABS piping. ABS is no longer sold in my area because it doesn't meet code. IIRC according to our local inspector ABS was not made to the same rigid dimensional standards as PVC. Whenever I do some reno there I replace ABS with PVC.

Go with the PVC but keep in mind that whenever you have to join PVC to existing ABS, some codes require that the joint be mechanical (even though there are glues available for ABS/PVC) because of the sloppy ABS tolerences. You can buy ABS/PVC unions at most plumbing supply houses.
