Copper Estimate

Ok i just did some research on how much i should be paying for some copper fittings i need. I got an estimate from a plumbing supply store that totaled $114.03 i thought that was rather expensive for just some fittings. Here's what i need to get:

1 Copper reducing coupling - 1" x 1/2"................$5.24
1 Copper Cap - 2"...........................................$10.52
2 Copper Reducing Tee - 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1/2"....$37.00
1 Copper Reducing Coupling - 1 1/2" x 1"............$10.16
1 Copper 90 Elbow - 1 1/2"..............................$12.92
1 Copper Reducing Tee - 2" x 2" x 1 1/2"............$26.19
2 Copper Cap - 1 1/2".....................................$12.00

I've always known copper was expensive, just never thought it was that much. Could somebody tell me if that seems like a fair price?

Thanks,

Jim

Is it starting to sink in, or are you still in sticker shock? Today is a good day to buy. This summer will be worse. Three years from now you'll be selling blood (your neighbors, I hope).

Those are average prices for small quantities. A couple seem a dollar or two high, but over all, they appear current.

Be glad you don't need large diameter plastic pipe.

Copper prices

Find a local plumbing contractor to purchase them for you. Promise him some of your spirits when your done distilling and he will be glad to purchase them for you, at least I would.

Jim,

I'm sending you a URL for an online Internet supplier.

Prices there are:

$2.37 1" to 1/2" coupler
$8.00 1-1/2 x 1-1/2 x 1/2 tee

some items, like the 2 x 2 x 1-1/2 tee aren't listed, but their 2x2x2 tee is 16.00.

If they can't quote the exact correct part, it would still be cheaper to use a reducer. Those prices you're being quote are full off-the-street list.

Copper or PVC

If he is making what I think he is making, it has to be copper or stainless.
