Repair leaky shower faucet

I have what I believe is a cartridge-type shower faucet, leaking incessantly. I cannot get the handle off - I've unscrewed the handle screw, and have tried a handle puller, but the thing won't budge. Does anyone have any advice?

Thanks!

I am assuming a Moen faucet??? You mentioned a handle puller, Moen has a puller especially for their cartirdge faucets, is that what you are using??? Did you remove the 'U' clip???

I don't know the brand of the faucet - there's no identifying info on it. I picked up a generic handle puller. I did not remove the U-clip - the information I found indicated that I should unscrew the screw in the middle of the handle, and then remove the handle without dismantling anything else. Is there a missing step?
