Question Garbage disposal has plumbing problems

....I have a question about my rental's garbage disposal.

The people that rent my condo said that the sink backs up and slowly goes down the garbage disposal.

Could it be that the blades aren't sharp enough to cut things up and go down? Or something completely different.

Thank you in advance!

Turn the water on first before turning on the garbage disposal. This should keep the drain from clogging.

Easy enough to check. Pull the P-trap and inspect it for blockage. While it's out - put a bucket under the tailpiece and run some water into the sink - see how it drains.... this should tell you if the blockage is before/at/or after the P-trap.

Your garbage disposal could be clogging up - again, pretty easy to tell... take a flashlight and look into it - see if you have crud buildup - or a shiny unit that is doing it's job.
