No COLD water
Hi,
A friend of mine says that only his hot water shower handle works...turn on the cold handle, and no cold water comes out. What could be the cause?
Thanks!!
Maitai

I can't resist.
as Paris Hilton would say, "that's hot"
sorry.
presumably there is cold water elsewhere in the house, correct?
what kind of faucet is this? single handle, dual handle, brand, model (if you have it).
Is there a toilet in the same room? Is the water flow to it the same as always?

1. Yes there's cold water everywhere in the house.
2. Its a Single handle, no markings, looks like a small pendulum hanging down, turns Counter clockwise 90 degrees from 6 to 3 oclock position only.
3. Toilet and sink in same bathroom work fine with both temps.

We have to assume there has never been cold water to this location. If you remove the handle and the cover plate to the control valve, you will see two screw heads, one on the hot side and one on the cold side. These are balancing valves. If the screw slot is turned in the direction of water flow it is open, and if it is across the direction of flow, it is closed. Check to see the position of the cold water side balance screw and let us know.
