Question

My home is 1 yr. old. We have a whirlpool
tub in the master bath. We seldom use it,maybe 6 x total in one yr. The water is always a brownish color, the rest of the taps
in the house have clean water. Is this discoloration because we seldom use the tub?
or should one of the supply pipes be cleaned?

A roman tub valve,Im assuming you have,
does have a much higher GPM rate than
the other fixtures in your home, unless
you have 2 roman tub valves.GPM means
gallons per minute, and a good roman valve
will spit out some water. This high flow
valve is the most likley too stir up any
sediment that may have accumulated in the
bottom of your water heater, resulting in the
discoloration in your tub.especially if
you only operate it like you have said.
also try filling a large white bowl in the
kitchen sink,full blast,hot and cold,same
time and see if the water is discolored.
if your faucet is rated at 1 gpm you will
probobly see no discoloration.
