drain trap

I recently had a clogged bathtub drain. The drain company said they were unable to unclog it because of the trap. they then sent out a plumber who removed the pipe and trap totally and replaced it only with a pipe, no trap. I would like to know if this is okay not to have a trap. I would appreciate any response.

I emailed you this, but posting it here, too.Traps hold water to prevent sewer gas from getting into your home. All drains should have traps. Have that "plumber" come back and do it right. From time to time, use a liquid build-up remover in your drains (not a clog remover, which is different)to help prevent problems.
