I have copper going into galvanized. I've heard conflicting stories. Some people say you have to have a dielectric joint in between the two, others have said they have copper running into Galvanized and have had it for years. What's the life expectancy of something like this?

yes you are suppose to have dielectric
unions when 2 dissimiler metals are connected.Although i've seen unprotected
areas last several years, while others
fail in a few months and begin to drip.
I wouldnt stress over it,sounds like you
need a re-pipe anyway.

leaking shower floor

I have an upstairs shower which has started leaking. I removed the cieling below it and see moisture around the drain. My thought is that it is leaking around the grout line between the floor and walls and flowing along the shower pan until it reaches the drain hole in the subfloor. How does the shower pan and the drain come together? Is there any way to determine the exact point where the leak is?Read More
