Hard water scale

Trying to find out how to remove hard water scale from a bathtub. Have recently installed a water softener but now need to deal with the visible surface damage from what seems to be at least three years of un-softened water use.Suggestions?

sounds like maybe a porcelin coated
cast iron tub?
If so,I havent a clue how to remove those
unwanted stains.the old tub at my parents
house had what you are describing,but theres
was eroded down too the cast iron itself.
I guess the water ate thru the porcelin over
time.
you may try someone who refinishes bathroom
fixtures for ideas.
