I have just purchased a home with 1 1/2 bathrooms. My bathroom on the main floor is also a laundry room. When l am doing laundry and flush the toilet in the same room the water comes to the top of the toilet bowl. If you do it a couple of times it will overflow. It does this for a couple of hours after doing laundry then it is fine. When you are not doing laundry it works ok but if you have people over and the toilet is being flushed alot, the water level when you flush it slowly rises till it overflows. When you do flush it, you can hear the water "girgle" from the sink and the laundry drain pipe. What would cause this and how do you fix it??

sounds like a stoppage in the main line somewhere, are you on septic or county sewer?
A 5/8 sewer cable should take care of the problem, but I wouldent reccomend this if you are on septic,of so call a septic professional.
