Question

Today I opened the drain **** to let some of the sediment out of my gas water heater, and when I went to close the drain ****. It will not close completely so water is still coming out of it. Did I do something wrong, or does it need to be replaced. If it does need to be replaced, how do I do that? Thanks

turn the water to the heater off up at the top of the heater, turn gas control valve to pilot setting, attach a hose to the drain **** on the heater and drain it,the drain **** you have now is probobly plastic ,they
never hold up.you can purchase a brass one to replace the old one with,be careful unscrewing the old one.
