Claw Foot Tub Faucet
#1

I'm installing a new faucet in a claw foot tub. The riser heads attached to the water supply are too large to fit into the new faucet. Is there a way to use an adaptor or extension to make the riser fit? Or will it be necessary to remove the existing risers and install new ones? I was hoping to avoid that if possible.

Yes, it is a threaded connection. The extension pieces are soldered to the copper pipe. But the extensions fit into the faucet and are held in place by a bolt. The old bolts fit onto the new faucet ok, but the end of the extensions pieces are just slightly too large to slide all the way into the new faucet.

IF YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT SLIDING THE COPPER PIPE IN THE FLOOR UP INTO THE RECEIVING END OF THE FAUCET AND IT COMES VERY CLOSE TO FITTING,LIKE WITHIN 2 THOUSANTS OF AN INCH
AND YOU ARE USEING BRASS COMPRESSION FITTINGS
YOU CAN USE A CLAMPING TYPE FLAREING TOOL TOO SIZE THE COPPER BACK DOWN TO SIZE.SOME TIMES SOFT ROLL COPPER WILL SWELL OVER TIME.

The extensions that are attached to the copper tubes are not copper. I believe they are cast iron. They are silver at any rate. The extensions are soldered to the top of the copper tubing which is coming out of the floor. The end of this extension is what is too big to fit into the new faucet. It is larger by more than couple thousand's of an inch. Any thoughts on how to fix that? Thanks for all your responses. I really appreciate your help.
