25 psi may well be the low pressure specified for that water pump by its manufacturer, but your water pressure can be set higher. The threaded stem sticking out is probably the pressure control valve stem. Try loosening the lock nut at its base, and screwing it in or out to adjust the cut-off (higher) pressure. You also can adjust on/off pressure by adjusting the two spring retaining nuts up and down in your pressure switch. If you have an air tank, check the pressure with a tire gauge. It should be just at or below the 25 psi kick -on pressure. If it's low, recharge the tank with a portable air tank. If you're like me, when all else fails, contact the manufacturer for guidance (see pump plate). You should be able to have much higher water pressure safely. Good Luck!

Your normal house plumbing should be way more than adequate for any max pressure that a regular 1/2-hp or 3/4-hp water well pump can generate. Unless you have some Godzilla pump not meant for a home, just adjust it up to where you like it for the upper pump cutoff pressure. It's only going to get so high, anyway. Should be O.K.
