Hi, all, Three days ago, I found the hot water came out from a faucet in my guest Bath (1st floor) almost instantly when turned on first time in the morning. I suspected there is a leak since it normally takes around 30-40 seconds for the hot water to travel from attic water heater. Sure enough, I put by ear close to either faucet (one at bath tub), I could hear the hiss sound. By the way, I did not hear the sound at any faucets at other rooms. I called professionals and the guy pumped some air in the washer connection and used a hearing device. He located one spot at the floor (concrete slab) saying it is leaking there. It also felt warm there. The strange thing is that after he disconnected the air pump and reopen the valve the water heater, the hiss sound become very small. I could still hear it but barely. But the problem is: after he dig up the foor (with demolition hammer) the next day, he found the pipe, but it is not leaking. He said it might be travel from somewhere nearby and suggest to continue to dig. Since I did not want to have everyting open up (it would also break my wood floor) before being sure where is leak is, I ask him to leave the hole there and be done for now. Now, I can not even hear anything and the hot water takes 30-40 s to reach the faucet as it normally does. Everything indicates it is not leaking. What should I do now, especially with those igly hole (around 2x2 ft? I plan to use the concrete board to patch it up and put concrete on top of it. Then, put ceramic tiles later one if I do not see leak in couple of months. Good/bad idea? Would such repair cause any fundation problem since I saw a wire that was burried in the concrete got cut during digging. Thanks for any suggestions. SZ

I need to install a shut off valve on a live line that currently has no shut off. The line is a 3 in steel pipe that is gravity fed from a spring. There is no way to shut the water off to the line. The valve needs to go in about 20 ft from the end of the line after a 90 degree bend. Any suggestions?
