Question

Need help. In my shower have 3 separate
cold-diverter-hotwaterfaucet. I cannot remove
the stem. I have the handle off. The stem
seems to go into a cyclinder (which comes out
of the wall) approx 2 1/2 inches in and appears to be a nut at the end. How do I get
this stem out. Not sure whether to pull.My luck everything will come with it. Thanks
for help

Cool

What you need is a valve socket wrench, similar to a sparkplug wrench, that fits your particular valves (over the stems). Measure the width of that "nut" and you'll know what size that you need. Will back them right out counter-clockwise. Then you can replace washers, etc. There is also a special tool to remove the valve seats, that may also need replacing. You can get these at hardware stores, plumbing supplies, etc. Good Luck!
