Bathtub drain stop lever stuck.....

My bathtub has alway drained slow, but last week it really started draining even slower and now wont drain at all. We snaked it and the snake got stuck on the chain connected to the lever so we took the cover plate off and had to pull the chain assembly out to get the snake it won't drain and I think the link is closed completely shut. How do we get the lever unstuck so it'll open
the drain up again? I'm suspecting that's what it is since no drain opener helps at all. Thanks

When you pulled out the tip lever assy., did ALL of the parts come out? Should be 2 sections of brass rod and the seal, which is about 2" long and a little over an inch in diameter. If you don't have that out, it will slip into the drain tee and close it off.
