shower head ball won't come off

I am trying to change my shower head, and there is the old style ball on the end. I can see a thread, so i am pretty sure that it is screwed on, but it won't budge. Help!

The old style that has a ball on the arm will not unscreww, you will have to unscrew the entire arm out of the wall and put in a standard arm with new shower head.
If you already have the new arm use channel locks a carefully unscrew the old one, put telfon tape or pipe dope on the new one and screw it back in.
