I have a new house. The supply line out of the wall is plastic (or some polymer). A metal shutoff valve is attached to it. It is leaking at the coupling nut to plastic pipe connection. What does this joint look like inside? Which way do I turn the coupling nut? There is a lot of goop on the joints from the builder.

To remove it turn to the left while holding the stop steady, righty tighty, lefty loosey, that how to remember.

Don't forget to turn the water off before attempting this.
