Question

I am replacing a toilet and need also to replace the elbow and flange from the toilet. The sanitary line is cast iron with lead joints and the elbow is also lead. suggestions please on how to remove the old lead elbow with leaded joints and install a new one in the cast iron sanitary line.
Thanks,

Cut the pipe 4" from where it ties to the vent, this will let you remove the elbow and flange.

Use a 4" x 3" fernco for the transition from the cast to the abs/pvc pipe.

Glue on the 3" elbow and your stub up for the flange.

Use a 4" x 3" closet flange.

Now a very important part, make sure the bottom of the flange sets on finish floor.

Secure the flange using brass screws.

Thats it.
