Bathroom Sink Trap

My bath sink trap needs to be replaced at the main drain. The pvc is glued into the drain. Is there a way to separate the glued joint without cutting? If I do cut, will I be able to remove the old peice from the joint?

I don't follow you here, at what point in the line, under the sink or under the house.
