Question

I an being required to go on city sewer and get rid of my septic system. My Q: is how much fall should I have on my new sewer line? I don't want to little so that it drains slow or to much so that it leaves solids behind.

Grade the pipe at 1/4" per foot and that should do just fine.

Thanks, I thought that was the fall rate but was not sure, and 10 search engines failed to lead me to the answer. Now if I can get the city to put in the lift station (they terminated the main 100ft from propline and I need 160FT to get to prop line so I'll be 9.5ft deep at the main 8ft in the ground) I'll be in good shape.

You can grade 4" to 1/8" per foot but only when authorized by the plumbing inspectors.
