Question

We need to remove our tub to be able to replace the floor under it because of a leak.We cannot get the tub drain to release so that we can get the tub out without damaging the tub. Can you offer any advice. So far we have been told that we will have to go under our home and remove insulation, ect.until we find the pipes and then saw the pipe lose. Any other options?

I have been able to remove tubs after detaching the drain assembly, either you can lift tub up while twisting it or you can slide the tub out from it's lots, these two ways are only providing that you have removed the sheet rock where the studs are visible.

You can use a dumbell, (some people call it a spud wrench, to remove the tub shoe, (the chrome thing in the drain). Then take out the overflow bucket assembly, (Take out the screws and pull out the stuff that is attached to the face plate. Once those two things are done you should be able to remove the tub using the method suggested by Plumber2000.
