quality of copper pipes on drinking water
#1

Our water comes from a community well that serves 6 homes. The water has a pH of 6.5 and a copper level of 1.omg/L at the well head. Recently the water within the homes has tested from 4.0 to 5.3mg/L for copper. One county person I talked to thought that was very high even with the aggressive water. My question is: Does the grade of copper piping within the home itself have and effect on the copper levels we are seeing, and if so how do we determine the grade of pipe?

dapcar,
You're worrying about nothing. The main thing you need to worry about is if someone used lead-based solder (against code, and angerous to consume). Test for lead. Good Luck!
