I recently replaced a sump pump (internal float). I also put a piece of radiator hose between the pump and the PVC egress pipe to decrease the transmission of vibration to the sturcture. As I did the work, I noticed a check valve inline with the PVC just above the sump (the pipe is vertical for 8 feet above the sump before crossing the house to the outside exit into draintile). The check valve is labeled 'two way check valve'. I have not been able to find a replacement - or even to find anyone in hardware stores that knows what this is or how it works. Upon disassembly, there is no flap or flow control. Water that doesn't pump out of the pipes backflows into the sump. This causes the water level in the sump to start fairly high up on the pump, causing the pump to cycle much more than necessary. Is this as simple as putting a standard check valve at the pump, before the flexible hose that runs the water up to the PVC? Do I need a 2 way check valve (assuming I can get the concept and find one!)? Thanks, D. Woodbeck

My outside tap keeps running even after it is fully turned off. Is there a relatively easy way to fix this
