Tapping into Natural Gas pipe

Howdy,
Just bought a house and I want to run natural gas pipe in the basement to connect a gas dryer. We have a gas furnace so the service is in the house. How do I tap into the gas line (black steel pipe) and run from that. I need to go about 10' and then down to the dryer connection. Any helpful hints or suggestions are appreciated. (I'm pretty handy, used to build market houses and do remodeling, etc. but have never run gas line.)

Installing a line from the existing line you will need to install a tee in that run of pipe, you will have to disassemble the pipes and cut and thread pipe to accomadate the tee, you might need to put in a union if the run is too long to disassembly, shut the gas off before doing this task, if your not so sure about doing gas pipe then I say call in a plumber to do this for you.

Unless you can get all of the necessary pipe cut and threaded at exactly the lengths you need, then by all means call a plumber to do it, as suggested by Plmber 2000. Whet he or she will charge is a whole lot less than renting or buying the tools needed to do it yourself.
