Hello to all!
I've been spending my July 4th trying to unclog a stuck disposal unit. I have inserted the hex socket supplied and I have been working it to death... (This has always worked in the past) Nothing appears to be stuck in the blades. It just won't come loose.
Any suggestions before I pop it out and replace it?

I like to use a basin wrench to unjam the disposal, I get better leverage with this tool.

If you need to remove the disposal, it's held in with the mount ring, you sould see three ears on mount ring, these should untwist, if not I use a big tip screwdraiver and a hammer the help assit in makeing the mount ring more.

Is it the disposal that is jambed and won't turn, or is it a clogged drain that simply won't let the water out? If the disposal blades turn freely, the hex key is a waste of time -- clear the drain.

To Lefty -
I used the word 'unclog' loosely... so to speak.
The blades ared definitely stuck. I get very little movement with the key and when I do break it loose, it jams solid again right away.

Tried again today. No Luck. Looks like a replacement to me right now.

Thanks for the info.

If you have been working with the hex key for 3 days and can't get the dispoal to rotate with it, then I think replacing the unit may be the only answer.
