Noisy Hose Bib

Whenever I release the trigger on the hose spray nozzle, or whenever the water metering device attached to a sprinkler shuts off, we hear an annoying tone and sucking sound that can be heard throughout the house. The only way to stop the sound is to close the bib. As a consequence , we can not leave any automatic timing device attached to the bib without the sound driving us crazy. Any idea what's causing this noise and how to resolve it?

Thanks

Does your outside faucet have a backflow preventer on it?

Could you possibly describe the sound and where it appears to be coming from a little better?

Yes, I guess there is an anti-siphon device on the bib.

The sound is hard to describe. It's kind of like an offkey medium low whistle which will frequenlty suddenly go up in pitch and volume, stop and then start again.

Can you pinpoint a location where the noise is the loudest?

I had a chance to check it out and the sound seems loudest from the bib.
