Question

I am in the process of replacing the tub drain. I have purchased a drain wrench, but when I try to use it, it bends. Is there any way to loosen the drain? I have considered heating it with a torch, but don't want to until someone "in the know" tells me that its the thing to do

What is bending the tool or part of the drain?

Do use a torch on the tub drain assembly.

If the drain assy is bending, attack it with a hack saw. If the wrench is bending, get a better wrench. Leave the torch in the shop.
