Bathtub Stopper won't stay open

Need advise on how to fix a bathtub stopper that won't stay open to let water drain. I have to keep my hand on to let the water out. When I remove my hand it slowly closes up and the water will not drain.

You need to replace the lever the the stopper attaces to, remove the two screw that hold this cover to the tub, pull the assembly out, a cotter pin holds this assembly to the trip lever, remove this and attach the new trip lever.
