leaking water heater
#1

my water heater is leaking from the overflow valve(or the faucet at the bottom of the tank)it started after my water pipes outside were repaired after creating a waterfall in my yard. no problem with hot water it just keeps leaking.

There is no "overflow valve" on a water heater. There is the brass T&P valve (on or near the top) that should have a 3/4" pipe connected to it, and there is the drain **** at the bottom (with hose threads on it). Which one is leaking?

You probably have some sediment in the drain **** that is causing the problem. Connect a hose to the **** and run the hose outside. Open the drain **** and count to five, then close the ****. That SHOULD clear up the problem. After you disconnect the hose, watch the **** for a minute or so and see if it still leaks. If it doesn't, you're finished. If it does drip, post again and we will tell you how to change the ****.

It's the one on the bottom with the hose threads. It looks like it has a black cap on it. The leak seems to be coming from under the black cap.<HR>
