Because of leaking, we replaced the old flexible tubing on our tolet, but it's still leaking from the bottom of the tank, which I think is called the supply stub out. What's the problem???

Cool

If I understand your problem correctly, turn off the water supply to the toilet, undo the connection at base of tank, wrap threads with 2-3 wraps of teflon tape clockwise, re-attach connection. See if that doesn't solve problem. Good Luck!

Hello Dianne, You have changed the line from the angle stop to tke toilet and you still have a leak.Possible other place leaks would occur are where the ball **** comes through the tank tighten the nut an the bottem of the tank. I have seen that leak at times only when you flush the toilet. Another possiblty could be the tank to bowl bolts they fail with age. Dry the bottom of the tank and the floor, then lay down some paper on the floor and see if you can spot the leak when it drips on the paper. Good Luck Woodbutcher

I'm having the same exact problem. After going to the store to replace the entire ball **** assembly and the supply hose, I still have a drip coming around the edge underneath where the water supply mets the bottom of the toilet!! Should I get some kind of sealer (water proof silicon?) to put around the hole and the washer when I screw it tight? This is driving me nuts!!!!

Kemo, don't put a sealer on it. It isn't necessary. Take the ball **** back out, clean around the hole in the bottom of the tank where it attaches (inside and out), and reinstall the ****. Make sure the rubber washer is slid on the base of the **** so that the flat side is up and flange on the washer extends into the hole. Hand tighten the nut, then use a pair of 10" channel locks to tighten it about 1/2 turn more.

Thanks for the response. Part of the problem could have been that I didn't get it quite tight enough. I need to get a bigger wrench instead of just using a pair of plyers on the outside. I'll keep you posted later this evening once I get back home.

Wouldn't some sealer help though?

The sealer is not necessary and will make the ball **** harder to get out when it has to be replaced next time.

Got it! Everything is hooked up and working fine now. The hardware store also recommended me putting some teflon tape on the threads of the ball **** assembly. That may have helped as well.

Thanks for your help!!
