Do you heat the pipe w/the torch while applying the solder? Or, heat the pipe then apply the solder?

After you clean the outside of the pipe and the inside of the fitting, and after you flux the joint and slip it together, you then apply heat to the joint. Once it is hot enough to melt the solder, the heat will pull the solder into the joint.
