pressure

The cold water barely trickles into my washing machine. The cold spigot is at the
end of the cold line. The next fixture 'up'
the cold line is my bathroom sink. That cold
water pressure was fine, until I recently
moved the sink (and therefore the copper lines associated with it). Now, the sink pressure is really low. I'm wondering if something can be blocking the line. Other fixtures further 'upstream' work fine (hot and cold).

For the washing machine, try the following: There are strainers on the inlet water lines to the washing machine. Cut the water off and relieve the pressure. Take the hoses off at the machine and remove the strainers at the inlet to the washing machine. Are they dirty? Clean them and put the hoses back on.
As for the faucet, Take off the aerator on the end of the spout and clean it. It screws off.
I suspect you picked up some trash in the line when you did plumbing changes.

Thanks, R.L. Boatright....That is good advice...and I looked it over before I posted. In fact, the sink aerator was clogged. When I cleaned it up, the hot water ran better than ever. The cold water still runs in a trickle from the same spigot.
Also, I looked over the hot/cold water flow rates for the washing machine directly from the spigot (i.e. disconnected the hoses at the bib). I think the line must somehow be clogged, but how can I verify it or clean it out without re-plumbing the copper?

For the lavy faucet, if the hot has good flow and the cold doesn't, there is an obstruction in the cold line. Look in the cold valve at the at the faucet AND at the cold shut-off valve. Either could be clogged.
For the washing machine, disconnect the hoses at the machine. You will see screens in each of the threaded nipples that the hoses connect to. Clean out those screens and your problems should be over.

Hello, If you changed your copper plumbing you could have some solder plugging up your valves down line. Start with the washer, unhook the hose, get a bucket and turn the hose bib on. How is the pressure? Still low? then the hose bib is probably plugged shut off the water and repair or replace the hose bib.Do the same with the angle stop uner the bath sink. Good Luck Woodbutcher

Thanks for everyone's help. The washing
machine cold water now works fine, thanks
to cleaning out the screen (thanks, Lefty).
I've still not found the problem with the
sink cold water, but I am sure that thanks
to your postings, I'll get it resolved. This BB is such a great resource!
