We have a periodic sewer smell coming from the master bathroom sink drain. It usually occurs late afternoon and overnight. It is strong enough to wake us if we don't close the door. We've tried drain cleaners and bleach but nothing seems to work. I compared the goose neck to the other bathrooms and it is the same size, so there went my water evaporation theory. Any ideas?

Cool

Sounds like the vent pipe to the sink is partially clogged. This will cause the water in the trap to siphon out allowing the sewer gas to seep in. Go up on the roof (carefully) and snake out the vent pipe above the bathroom. Good Luck!
