Mary,
How is this attached to the sink drain?
Is it connected by a tailpiece? Before or after the trap?

The trap is the U-shaped part of the drain that holds (traps) water to prevent sewer gases from leaking back up into the room. A tailpiece is the pipe that goes from the drain of the sink to the trap. The tailpiece may be one like is used to attach a dishwasher hose, which will have a smaller pipe out of the side (which is probably what you have.)
Since this is seems to be leaking at a pvc glued connection, and as a drain it has no pressure....clean off and dry the connection good where it's leaking and then swab on pvc glue around the outside fitting edges and let it dry. That will probably stop it. Good Luck!
