Question

I just ran a pvc water supply line from the house to the garage. I tapped into the main water supply line which is copper. Do I need to put in a back flow preventor? And if so where would you put it?

Cool

If you tapped into your main water supply line on the house side of the main cutoff valve, you may already have a check valve installed in your main supply line near it.
Here, our public (County) water supply requires a check valve near the main house cutoff to prevent backflow in case of loss of water pressure. Check with your water department. I doubt that you need a check valve just for this new line. Good Luck!
