shower drain
#1

I need to replace the drain in my shower and, unfortunately, I have to install a new drain to the PVC down pipe. How do I get the old drain off the PVC Pipe? I believe it is glued on with PVD glue.
Is there a solution that will break the glue or do I have to cut it off?

You will need to cut it off, when pvc is properly installed its almost "welded" together.
Buy a new glue type drain and a 2" fernco style coupling. You will also need a short piece of 2" pvc pipe. install the new drain, glue in the new piece of pipe to make up the difference from cutting out the old piece. Install the fernco coupling to connect the lines together again. You will need a 5/16th"
socket or nut driver to put this together, This will let you take it apart easier if you need to work on it again.
